Peanut Butter + Banana Bliss Balls
One of my all time flavour combinations is Peanut Butter + Banana. I’m not sure what it is about them but they just go so well together. So when I found some dried banana at my local Source Bulk Foods I knew I had to make some Peanut Butter + Banana Bliss Balls.
With most of the sweetness coming from the dried banana their refined sugar content is relatively non-existent and absorption by your body is slowed with the inclusion of fats from the peanut butter, flaxseed and coconut oil.
Flaxseed is a wonderful source of plant based Omega-3, that’s the fat that is anti-inflammatory similar to what is found in oily fish such as salmon, They also contain phytoestrogens and ligans which are great for cardiovascular and nervous system health and helpful in reducing post menopausal symptoms.
These balls of yumminess are great to enjoy throughout the day. Two Peanut Butter + Banana Bliss Balls are the perfect snack post workout if it is going to be sometime before you can get in a proper meal, One or two in the afternoon would help with any hunger or sugar cravings and also sharpen the brain for the rest of the day. Or enjoy one in the evening with a cup of tea at least an hour before bed.
What Do I Need?
- 100g of Dried Banana
- 100g of Peanut Butter (I like crunchy but you could use either, just make sure its only peanuts and a hint of salt)
- 40g of Almond Meal (or 1/2 a cup)
- 20g of Flaxseed Meal (also known as linseed)
- 2 Tablespoons of Coconut Oil, melted
- 1 Tablespoon of Pure Maple Syrup
- Sesame Seeds for rolling your Bliss Balls in
Let’s Do This
1. Tear your dried banana into smaller pieces and place into a food processor or blender.
2. Add in all the other ingredients.
3. Wizz on high until all ingredients have combined. This takes a couple of minutes and it’s worth scraping the bowl at least once. Your mix should look like the picture above – beginning to ball and ever so slightly sticky. If the mix is too dry add a teaspoon of water, if it’s too runny add a teaspoon of almond meal until you achieve the right consistency.
4. Shape the mix into balls by rolling them between your hands – the balls I made were about 30g each.
5. Roll them in sesame seeds and pop them in the fridge in an airtight container.
